Journey to catch them all — Episode (5)

Can you spot the legendary in the image?

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Imagine a game where you are the PokéTrainer at Route 1

As I mentioned in Episode (1), Video games are my favorite medium for entertainment. The beauty of video games lies in how they place you at the center of the experience, the game ‘revolves’ and adapts around you. You are the sun of that universe.

Another cool thing about games is that if you want something, there’s always a way to get it. There’s a clear (maybe hard) path you can take but if you follow it, you’ll reach your goal.

Scarlet was the first Dex I ever completed.

For example, if you want a full Dex. You know exactly what you need to do, put in the effort and get rewarded, plain and simple.

I think this is the contrast between video games and real-life because unlike games where you are the main player who is always in control, in real life it takes a lot of effort to keep you feeling like that.

Also, Life’s RNG is wild. Same actions, same scenario — yet the results? Total chaos. Sometimes, you give it your all and get nowhere; other times, you blink twice and everything just works.

But I think the only rule that is common between both is that if put in the effort, you can get 1% better daily. In games, you see your ranking move; in life, you just have to trust that stacking those 1% gains will eventually tip the scales in your favor.

Just continue doing it

Apparently, I blinked twice...?

Something that I feared while writing these blogs that eventually things will slow down when we get close to the legendries As they are the hardest Pokémon to get.

They often require you finishing the game (sometimes even completing the whole Dex) to catch them, an example of that is are Genies in Legend arceus, Specifically Enamorus.

I had this weird mental block between them. The second I saw the credits roll in Arceus, I shut the game and thought, ‘I will never open it again’.

It sounds silly but I hated how small the font is in this game on the switch lite

However, I thought I would continue making the effort to take 30 minutes out of my busy life to write this because it makes me happy and when it’s time for the genies, I will just use all my trades.

To my surprise, when I opened twitter today:

I was curious, what could possibly be in these encounters.

You Guessed it, THE. THREE.GENIES.

Funny thing? One of them is a damn shiny.

Now I am missing the last one, which I honestly just redeemed my 2nd trade in this series.

With that, i just got the 4 Pokémon that I dreaded the most in a way that i wouldn’t have guessed, so who knows? maybe something else will tilt in my favor if i keep just putting the effort.

See you tomorrow.
